Eda Zahharova was born in Tallinn. She studied at the Georg Ots Tallinn Music School in Henn Eerik’s singing class from 1978 to 1983, and later, from 1985 to 1990, at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre in the singing classes of Assistant Professor Tiiu Levald and Professor Tiit Kuusik. From 1990 to 1992, she pursued an assistantship – internship at the P. I. Tchaikovsky Conservatory, studying in the class of legendary mezzo-soprano Irina Arkhipova. Additionally, she undertook a residency at the Hannover University of Music, Drama and Media in the singing class of Professor Eva Märtson-Wilson from 1992 to 1993.
Eda has been a part of the Estonian Radio Mixed Choir and the Estonian National Opera Choir, where she also performed solo roles. Notably, according to Estonia’s director Sulev Nõmmik, Eda Zahharova is considered “born for the stage.”
She has participated in national and international singing competitions, receiving a diploma at the Glinka All-Union Singing Competition and an international scholarship from the R. Wagner Society. Eda serves as a lecturer at Tallinn University and is a freelance singer who has appeared as a chamber singer and participated in performances of large-scale compositions in Sweden, Finland, and Estonia. She has also given solo concerts.
In 2013, Eda conducted a masterclass on vocal music for singing students at the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in Milan.
